Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a complex disease that affects not only sensory and motor pathways below the neurological level of (NLI) but also all organs systems situated this NLI. This multisystem impairment implies comprehensive management in dedicated SCI specialized centers, by interdisciplinary multidisciplinary teams, able to treat impairment, affected. After brief history Cord Medicine, author describes how determine severity based on International Standards for Neurological Classification Injury prognosis factors recovery. article provides review numerous SCI-related impairments (except urinary, sexual problems pain treated separately issue), their principles related complications.
